Presets

The Snake recently received a major preset upgrade, including hundreds of presets, a new preset menu, preset categories, and a search function.

With so many sounds available, the new preset browser makes it easier to explore, compare, and quickly find the right sound for your track.

Presets are organized into five categories based on their tonal and rhythmic characteristics.

Preset Categories

1. Deep Bass

Presets designed for deep, heavy low-end sounds.

These typically emphasize low-pass filtering, sometimes combined with unique shaper patterns to create powerful bass hooks and movement.

2. Reese

Presets designed for aggressive, heavily modulated Reese-style bass sounds.

These typically combine low-pass and comb filtering with extreme modulation, creating pronounced movement and “shredding” across both the frequency spectrum and amplitude.

3. Gnarly

Presets that don’t fit neatly into a single category—but sound gnarly.

These sounds sit somewhere between Reese-style basses and more experimental textures, combining aggressive filtering and modulation to create unusual and heavily processed tones.

4. Rhythmic

Presets focused on rhythmic modulation and movement.

These typically feature heavy amplitude modulation, creating articulate patterns and rhythmic variations that can add movement to otherwise static sounds.

5. Synth

Presets designed primarily for higher-frequency synth sounds.

These use less low-pass filtering and place greater emphasis on band-pass, peak, and notch filtering, making them well suited for leads, pads, and other higher-register sounds.

Preset Menu

Presets are now presented in a dedicated menu, making it easy to quickly move between sounds and A/B test different tones and textures.

We wanted the new browser to make experimenting with presets as fast and intuitive as possible while still keeping the library organized.

The original V2 presets are contained within the Mash-Up folder. More traditional, less modular presets are organized into their respective category folders.

This allows you to quickly switch between experimental V2 sounds and more conventional presets.

Preset Search

Looking for something specific?

The new search bar allows you to quickly find a preset by name. Simply enter a search term and The Snake will filter the preset list to show matching results.

The Snake Preset Pack

We’ve also worked with sound designers to create The Snake’s first official preset expansion.

The Sounds of The Snake Vol. 1 includes 150+ additional presets, giving you even more sounds to explore.

The preset pack is available for purchase through the Gooey Audio Add-On Store or directly from The Snake product page.
