this is control by gooey.

When creating the plug-in, we wanted to draw from our years of traditional DSP knowledge, but we also wanted to ensure we were exploiting the subtle quirkiness of the network to create oddities in sound(s).

Note, this is not a reverb plug-in.

Instead of using traditional convolutional methods, such as a Hadamard matrix, we opted for parallel and series delay lines that fed back into themselves, which smeared the sound but allowed for harmonic spikes to cut through.

A well-versed DSP engineer may recognize that the network is similar to the Schrödinger’s network, but unlike the Schrödinger’s network, there are no all-pass filters, and instead, more delay lines.

After tuning the lines, ensuring short bursts of noise were diffused but still colorful, the next issue was to apply a harsh warping distortion at high volumes. Since accentuating spiked frequencies in this network is a feature, and not a bug, we placed limiters in the feedback lines, and let that diffusion network rip.

At low levels, Control adds a smeared, diffused sound, but as the controls are turned up, the plug-in quickly transforms into a rancid growl.

We are quite pleased with the way this turned out, and hope you enjoy the plug-in too.
